The birthplace of Portugal, this region is not only massively important in the country's history, it's also home to some of its most beautiful natural places.

In Minho, you’ll find cities drenched in history – visit Guimarães, proclaimed as the city that gave birth to Portugal and walk around its ancient walls and historic center. To add, the city is super close to the breathtaking Peneda-Gerês National Park, so make sure to bring along your swim gear and hiking boots and discover some of the most crystal blue natural pools in Portugal!

Just slightly west of Guimarães lies Braga, the third largest city in Portugal and also one of the most religious, which is made apparent by the sheer number of churches strewn across the municipality. The city itself is more than 2000 years old and definitely worth checking out for its rich history and traditional gastronomy.

Minho also has some of the most beautiful cities in the country. Viana do Castelo and Arcos de Valdevez definitely deserve a trip!

Much like Porto, the whole region is renowned for its food and wine. So, if you're interested in Portuguese gastronomy (or want to discover it) then you definitely shouldn’t skip Minho!
